Calli Thackery

Running achievements so far:
5k runner turned marathoner!
Recently went from a 14:58 5km runner to a 2:22:11 marathoner.
2022 made the commonwealth games and placed 6th at Europeans for the 5,000m
2023 ran a half marathon PB of 68:56 and placed 7th at the World Half Championships.
2 weeks after I ran my debut marathon of 2:22:11.
I'm putting everything into making my 2024 season the best one yet! I have my eyes on making the Olympic team for the marathon!
A little bit more about me and my vision:

I’m a free spirit at heart and I love that my sport allows me to be just that.
I am happiest when travelling and seeking new running spots. Nothing excites me more than training/ racing in different parts of the world and meeting so many likeminded people along the way.
Don’t get me wrong though, I will never downplay anything, I am 100% an adrenaline junkie, I love the pump you get before races and big training days!!
Ultimately I love being competitive and testing my limits is what drives me the most.
But what I’ve learnt is although an individual sport, we can’t do this alone. It takes a village. A supportive network and someone else who sees your dreams and goals is what’s going to be important.
The goal is to create a very special community where we can all come together so we can help bring out the best in each other and chase down those PBs but have a bloody good time doing it along the way!

A little bit more about me and my vision:

I’m an easy going person and feel that allowing that side of my personality to bleed into my running is what helps me to feel and run my best. Happy, healthy and excited about what I do from a running standpoint, is the goal in every training block.

I’m competitive and my best self comes out on race day. Don’t get me wrong, training is great and it always will be an enjoyable part of my running. But race day, I feel, is the fun part of our sport. I love the thrill of crushing the end of a race knowing I threw everything I have to give at it!

While my own drive and goals motivate me to run well, I’ve actually learned that I can get the most out of myself when I envision myself running for others. When the going gets tough I think of my family, friends and teammates—all those who believe in me the most, and find I can dig that much deeper when I enter this mindset.
